Oh, For the Good Ol' Days...

British "Flu-Nips" Apothecary Bottle with Bakelite Lid (LEO Design)

Remember "The Good Ol' Days"?  When airborne maladies were vanquished with a simple little sweetie?  Whether this was truly the case—or just wishful thinking and deceptive promotion—this English Thirties "Flu-Nips" apothecary jar  would have stood at-the-ready on the counter of druggist, barber or candy shop proprietor.  A handsome graphic label (presenting a red cross) sits beneath a red bakelite screw-down lid.  Its soft square shape provided shipping efficiency; the maximum amount of product could be shipped in the smallest possible box when  square vessels are snuggly packed together in a multi-bottle carton.  Click on the photo above to learn more about it.

Though our Greenwich Village store is now permanently closed, LEO Design is still alive and well!  Please visit our on-line store where we continue to sell Handsome Gifts (www.LEOdesignNYC.com)
