From Turn-Teplitz, in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire (now called Teplice, in Northern Czech Republic), comes this handsome Secessionist four-handled vase made by Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel, commonly called "Amphora" (founded 1892). It was designed as part of a ceramics collection by the artist Paul Dachsel, and probably crafted just after he left the family firm (1904-1905) to start his own studio. Hand-painted circles congregate in bands, reminiscent of the style of Gustav Klimt, another Austrian Secessionist artist. (6" x 5.5") ap12906c
